So I think I’ll reformat the way that I do these Worship Recaps. I love the feedback I get from some of you. I mean, isn’t that what blogging is all about? So I’m just going to do our setlists and people involved and then I’m going to give one highlight and one challenge. It should shorten the posts and get right to the point… So here it is.

Highlight – I think the highlight of the day for me was just the way the service came together with very little planning. Dave and I didn’t really get to plan the day so I just picked songs and they fit perfectly with his message. My favorite song was “A new door”. Not just because it was a Lenny Kravitz song (most of you know that I’m a huge Lenny fan), but because of the lyrics and the falsetto part. I don’t get to do that very often. I’m not sure I nailed it, but it was fun none the less. And I do think I saw a few tears… always a good thing. Here are the lyrics.
I can see that look in your eyes
You’re in need of something you can’t find
You’re tired of holding on to the pain
You haven’t got the strength to hold the reigns
You are out of laneI know you can’t take it
I know you can’t take it anymore
I know you can’t fake it
I know you can’t fake it anymore
Now it’s time for you to open a new doorYou fool yourself when you live a lie
You spend all of your time getting high
But drunken nights won’t bury your fears
All the drinks you had just turned to tears
For too many yearsI know you can’t take it
I know you can’t take it anymore
I know you can’t fake it
I know you can’t fake it anymore
Now it’s time for you to open a new doorWhen you think that nobody cares
Close your eyes and know that God is there
And if you reach out He’ll do the same
Just ask for what you need in Jesus name
Don’t be ashamedI know you can’t take it
I know you can’t take it anymore
I know you can’t fake it
I know you can’t fake it anymore
Now it’s time for you to open a new door
Challenge – Falsetto… Because of my background in Church Music I’ve never really used my falsetto. It’s always been frowned upon because of the purpose of music in the Church (look for a post on that later this week). That being the case, I don’t get to practice it and so I know that I went a little flat 2nd service (if not both services) on “a new door”. I mean, it’s interesting when you think about it. From everything I’ve learned about the proper way to sing, it seems that falsetto is actually an improper way to sing. Or is it?
What about you? What were your highlights/challenges this week?
