Update on Jessie

Many of you know that last week Jessie was rushed to the SICU after being hit in the head and left for dead.  God has done some amazing things over the last week and a half.  He took her from the brink of death where the surgeons were ready to do a “die test” which determines whether or not there is any brain activity.  After Gordon, his parents and I anointed her with oil and prayed for her the surgeon came back in and saw that there was some response to light and that her breathing was on the up.  No need for a die test… imagine that.

Not long after, Jessie began to awaken from her sleep.  On Tuesday she awoke for about 5 minutes and seemed very confused and frustrated.  On Wednesday she was able to respond to commands like, “lift your arm”, “open your eyes” and my favorite from Gordon, “flip me off”…  😉

However yesterday things took a turn for the worse.  The swelling in her brain increased to such a point that the surgeons decided to do a very technical surgery.  They actually removed part of her skull to relieve the pressure.  While they were in there, they were able to remove a couple of blood clots as well.

While this surgery was necessary and did some good, the report today is that there really isn’t much improvement.  She hasn’t been awake since Wednesday and the pressure in her brain, although better, is still a concern.

Please continue to pray for Jessie and her family.  I’m believing James Chapter 5 for her…  God has already done a lot of healing, not only with Jessie, but also with her family.  I believe He still has a lot planned for this family.  Will you pray for them with me?
